Scenting technology company Prolitec has partnered with Vectorform and Ayla Networks to launch Aera – a smart home fragrance system designed to be category disruptive in the $20 billion global home scenting market.
SEATTLE, WA—(December 5, 2016) — Scenting technology company Prolitec has partnered with Vectorform and Ayla Networks to launch Aera – www.aeraforhome.com. Aera is a smart home fragrance system designed to be category disruptive in the $20 billion global home scenting market. Incorporating revolutionary technology for creating a hypoallergenic scent effect with the finest pure fragrances, Aera represents the latest in IoT (Internet of Things) for unprecedented flexibility and control in home scenting.
“The Aera system is the first of its kind and is a great example of the value that can be created when an organization applies a solid IoT strategy to its industry leading products.” said Vectorform CEO, Kurt Steckling.
In need of a digital execution partner, Prolitec chose Vectorform to develop the web and native applications for Aera. The iOS and Android apps offer expanded controls to enable customizing scent preferences, adjusting scent levels to fit different room sizes, scheduling scenting by time(s) of the day and day(s) of the week, and controlling multiple Aera devices and scents in multiple rooms of a home. The app can also be used for monitoring fragrance usage and easily reordering fragrance capsule refills through a responsive e-commerce website. Aera also works with Amazon Alexa giving you voice control to turn your Aera on and off, remind you of your scent level and adjust the strength of scent in a room.
“Scent is used in 75% of US homes. Scenting methods and processes have not seen meaningful innovation in the last 50 years. Our three-way partnership between Ayla, Vectorform and Prolitec produced a next-generation scenting system technology and created a full featured IoT system. It has been a pleasure to work with them.”
Richard Weening, Prolitec CEO
With any product launch of this scale and magnitude, a great deal of teamwork and collaboration is required. Executing a sprint based Agile methodology allowed the three-company partnership to work together seamlessly to deliver a product with an exceptional customer experience that spans both the physical and digital worlds.
“Prolitec’s choice of Ayla’s IoT and cloud services allowed Vectorform to quickly prototype, iterate and execute hardware and software solutions that offer both performance and scalability. This rapid execution and the quality of the platform provided tremendous value to the success of the project,” said Vito DiMercurio, Group Director, Mobile & Emerging Tech, Vectorform.
