The Easy Assembly app from Blum is the digital tool for carpenters and fitters, revolutionizing their everyday work.

The Easy Assembly App by Blum, has won a Red Dot Award for Communication Design and received the German Design Award, Special Mention, for Excellence in Communication Design Apps.

“We are excited about both awards as it validates the industry recognizing the importance of being inventive and innovative. We strive to solve complex business problems with emerging tech,” said Clemens Conrad, Managing Director, Experience and User Strategy at Vectorform. “Blum has been a great partner. We share the same views of investing in the digital revolution of industry 4.0 and believe it is the direction for commercial success in these changing environments. I want to thank the global teams from both parties who worked on this successful project.”

The app provides interactive support to carpenters and fitters for the convenient assembly of fittings. The aim is to make their everyday work safer and more efficient by providing simple instructions. Carpenters and fitters can intuitively access information and get answers to questions regarding the exact position or precise adjustment of fittings manufactured by Blum. In addition, the app’s augmented reality (AR) function is user friendly. It allows for scanning of the lift mechanism, in order to reveal the drilling positions, along with the exact measurements, and convenient adjustment of the fittings. The app is interactive, clear, thorough, and free to download for iOS and Android.

“The Easy Assembly app from Blum is the digital tool for carpenters and fitters, revolutionizing their everyday work. The project exhibits an overall commercial success and truly presents a pioneer solution to the international design landscape creating value at multiple customer journey touch points through great design”, said Martin Morgenfrüh, Account Manager at Vectorform.

About the Awards

Red Dot Award

The origins of the Red Dot Design Award date back to 1955. Its distinction, the “Red Dot”, is established internationally as one of the most sought-after quality marks for good design. To assess the diversity in the field of design in a thorough and professional manner, the award is broken down into three competitions: the “Red Dot Award: Product Design”, “Red Dot Award: Communication Design” and “Red Dot Award: Design Concept” – each organized once a year. From products to communication projects and packaging to design concepts and prototypes, the Red Dot Award documents the most prominent trends worldwide. The award-winning designs are exhibited in the Red Dot Design Museums.
